Interview with Antoine Albeau, windsurfing world champion

Description Antoine Albeau is a French windsurfer born on June 17 1972 in La Rochelle. Since 1994, he has been world champion several times in different categories of windsurfing. His sailing number is F-192. Antoine Albeau comes from the island of Ré. His father runs a beach club in La Couarde, where Antoine began windsurfing at the age of 5. After many successes in local then national competitions, he won his first French champion title in 1986, then he became a professional windsurfer in 1992. On March 5 2008, on the channel of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, he has beaten the world speed record on a funboard, with an average speed of 49.09 knots (90.91 km/h) on 500 meters. The preceding record was held by Finian Maynard with an average speed of 48.70 knots (90.19 km/h). |
