Description The Maxi Banque Populaire V has left Ambrose lighthouse yesterday on Thursday 00h 47mn 42s (French hour) to try and beat the north Atlantic record. Led by Pascal Bidégorry and his 11 crew members, the sailing ship is actually located at the benches of Newfoundland. It is sailing now at 38 knots, with a poor visibility. After 1 day 13h 45mnn the 40 meter trimaran which was 43.3 miles late compared with the reference time of the 2007 record, is taking back the miles little by little. A slight late - predictable regarding the weather - in the area crossed this night, which has reduced to 19.8 miles at noon, and which won't penalize the record. At midday, the Maxi is no more than 20 miles late. In the newt few hours the wind is about to strengthen, which is a good omen. |
